2025 SNOHOMISH COUNTY MASTER GARDENER WINTER SPEAKER SERIES
The Snohomish County Master Gardener Foundation is excited to announce its 2025 fundraising season. It is our Twenty-Second Annual Winter Speaker Series and we are once again meeting in person! The lecture series features eight celebrity gardeners, authors, and experts sharing their knowledge on a variety of gardening subjects. Whatever the topic, they are always entertaining and educational. Plus they are a great break from the winter doldrums!
January 17th – “Gardening with Early Ephemerals“, Richie Steffen, executive director for the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden, over 35 years experience in the horticultural field. Books for sale!
January 31st – “Layering for a Dynamic and Beautiful Garden, and Vines”, Laura Watson, a life-long gardener, garden writer and blogger; she has created gardens on both coasts, and always makes use of vines for vertical enhancement!
February 7th – “Growing and Conserving New and Rare Ornamentals”, Far Reaches Farm, featured in ‘Pacific Horticulture’, ‘Martha Stewart Living’, and Sue and Kelly are contributing editors for ‘Fine Gardening’ magazine.
February 14th – “Rediscovering Peonies”, Lore Sampson, a nurseryman’s daughter, propagator, small specialty nursery owner. Plant selection, forms, propagating and care.
March 7th – “Gardens for Birds”, Candy Brown, passion for birds, importance of native plants, bird feeder & house selection, pesticides & predators. Bird photo cards for sale!
March 14th – “Wildflower Photography”, Mark Turner, well-known photographer, specializing in gardens and native plants for books, magazines, and commercial clients. Co-author of “Wildflowers of the PNW”. Books for sale!
March 28th – “Garden Journeys: Before & After Transformations”, Dee Montpetit, specializes in maximizing each garden’s potential and creating beautiful outdoor spaces!
April 4th – “Myths and Gardening Folklore”, Linda Chalker-Scott, PHD, OSU horticulture, ISA certified arborist, WSU’s Extension Urban Horticulturist , science-based facts.
