Entertainment, K-9 demonstrations part of National Night Out on Aug. 5

MLT police shieldThe City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department is inviting the community to enjoy National Night Out from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, August 5 at Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave. W.

This free family event combines entertainment, food and community involvement for a fun-filled evening. Citizens can meet their neighbors and learn more about their community.

Popular rhythm and blues group Little Bill and the Blue Notes will perform on stage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Caricature artist Steve Hartley is back to draw a crowd. Kicking off the night at 6 p.m. will be Zumba and Hula demonstrations followed by a police K9 exercise at 7:15 p.m.

Mountlake Terrace’s National Night Out event is funded by donations from local businesses and sponsors. Some of this year’s sponsors include Premera Blue Cross, Audio Control, Red Onion Burgers BBQ, and Roger’s Market. The event has been recognized by the National Association of Town Watch as a National Award Winner for its outstanding participation for several years. Over 1,000 people attended last year’s event.

The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials.
