Enrollment is now open for Ignition Theater’s 2016 Summer Theater Day Camp for students ages 13-20.
The four-week full-day camp features training sessions and rehearsals with seasoned theater artists that culminate in four performances of “Jekyll & Hyde, The Musical.”
The camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from July 25 until Aug. 12, then Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. — 10 p.m. from Aug. 15-18 at Lynnwood High School, 18218 North Rd.
Four performances are scheduled Aug. 19-21 at the Lynnwood High School Royal Act Theater.
“After eight years of directing and producing summer drama camps elsewhere, we are excited to continue our highly successful program independently and bring it to a broader audience,” Camp Director Morgan Heetbrink said.
Campers take developmental specific classes with seasoned theater artists in improvisation, leadership games, personal enrichment, costume design and crafts, singing, dance and movement, voice and text. Stage combat, playwriting and directing are also incorporated most years.
Final performances are fully produced with costumes, lights and sets.
Ignition theater staff has been producing and directing the popular summer camp program at Edmond’s Driftwood Players for the last eight years.
Ignition Theater is dedicated to igniting and fostering a passion for theatrical arts in young people and their families by promoting learning opportunities in the performing arts that spark knowledge, self-confidence, leadership skills and inspire both individual expression and ensemble teamwork.
The camp costs $450 per student. A second camper from the same family will receive a 25 percent discount. Tuition fees include the cost of a commemorative t-shirt. For more information, visit Ignition Theater’s website.
