Quyen Terry, a teacher who also manages Spruce Elementary School’s English Language Learner (ELL) program, was December’s Rotary Club of Alderwood Terrace Educator of the Month.

Nearly one-third of the school’s students are English Language Learners. That means Quyen’s work has a real impact at the school.

“One of Quyen’s best qualities is her high energy and enthusiastic approach to everything she does,” Principal Katherine Kayler wrote in her nomination letter. “She is the teacher you wish your child could have. She has an exceptional ability to break learning apart into meaningful chunks . . . for our English learners.”
