Updated with additional information.

Edmonds Police and Snohomish County Search and Rescue on Wednesday night began searching wooded areas in the Town of Woodway, looking for Amy Kennelly, a missing 48-year-old woman from Edmonds.

According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, the search was focused in the 11000 block of Algonquin Road, where her car was located the night of Feb. 29 around 11 p.m.

Personal items, possibly from Kennelly, were found in a neighboring back yard, he added.

Hawley said that Kennelly’s vehicle had pulled into a driveway in Woodway and bumped into the garage door of the residence. Police responding to that incident looked for the driver, but the vehicle’s driver was “nowhere to be found,” Hawley said.

The vehicle was towed and during the night, police officers made repeated unsuccessful attempts to make contact with Kennelly to find out if she was involved in the collision.

“We don’t know if she was even in the car, or if she loaned it to someone,” Hawley said.

Edmonds police received a call from Kennelly’s family Wednesday, March 2, reporting her as missing. Edmonds police responded to the area where her car was found and began a foot search of the area. Snohomish County Search and Rescue also came to the scene to help search, Hawley said.

The search was suspended at around 10 p.m. Wednesday but will begin again Thursday morning, Hawley said.

Anyone with information about this is encouraged to call 9-1-1 or to send in tips via the police website.
