Two teachers in the Edmonds School District received layoff notices this week.
The 1.7 position reduction was necessary because of budget concerns reviewed earlier in the year. According to a resolution passed on May 10, the cuts “reduce the District’s expenditures to the level of reasonably anticipated revenues.”
Both teachers receiving layoff notices teach social studies. They were notified by May 15, which is the state-imposed deadline.
