It’s time to get your ballot in!Feb. 11 ballot

Ballots for the Edmonds School District replacement school programs and operation levy and the capital construction bond measure are due in the mail or a county ballot drop box by Tuesday, Feb. 11, in order to be eligible for tabulation.

Proposition 1 would authorize the school district to replace an expiring levy to collect tax funds for its general fund. The collections would average $62.5 million per year from 2015 through 2018. Proposition 2 would authorize the collection of tax funds to finance various capital improvements, including the construction of a couple new facilities, throughout the district.

Each proposition requires a 60 percent yes vote for passage. If approved, Proposition 1 would result in a 2015 tax rate of approximately $2.77 per $1,000 of tax valuation for property owners in the district. The tax rate would be slightly higher in 2016-2018. If Proposition 2 gains voter approval it would mean an approximate increase of 48 cents per $1,000 of tax valuation for 2015-2018.

As of Sunday, 18.4 percent of the ballots mailed to Edmonds School District voters had been returned to the Snohomish County Election Division.
