Edmonds School District Board passes 2015-16 budget

edmondssdlogoThe Edmonds School District Board of Directors unanimously passed the annual budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 during a special Board meeting on Tuesday.

Executive Director of Business and Operations Stewart Mhyre noted that the district is picking up a number of expenses that the state currently doesn’t not fully cover including cost of living adjustments, medical insurance and retirement. The district also kept some programs whole, such as special education and transportation, which would have had to be cut because the state doesn’t fully fund them.

The numbers for the district’s various funds are as follows:

  • General Fund $248,086,074
  • Associated Student Body Program Fund $2,910,638
  • Debt Service Fund $39,911,868
  • Capital Projects Fund $130,125,313
  • Transportation Vehicle Fund $1,200,000

Board Member April Nowak was absent from Tuesday’s meeting.

Preceding Tuesday’s meeting, the board had a study session on the 2016 Technology/Capital Projects Replacement Levy. The first reading for the levy is scheduled for Sept. 28 with the second reading set for Oct. 13. The Board could vote on the levy resolution on that date.
