DUI Traffic Stop Leads Officers to Marijuana Grow Operation

Breaking news fomr the city of Mountlake Terrace Police Department:

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, July 30, 2009, a City of Mountlake Terrace patrol officer stopped a vehicle in the 21900 block of 76th Avenue SW. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and a search of the vehicle turned up approximately 9 pounds of “Marijuana Butter”.

Marijuana butter is manufactured by cooking marijuana leaves or bud with butter, straining the product and then chilling it. It is then used in cooking or simply consumed for its effects.

Information gained through this arrest pointed to a home in the neighborhood of 224th and 62nd SW, in Mountlake Terrace as the source of the marijuana. Detectives were called in and a search warrant was obtained. Officers from Edmonds and Lynnwood assisted in serving the warrant on Friday morning. One suspect inside the home was taken into custody without incident. Detectives located a dismantled grow operation that may have once held as many as 100 plants.

In addition, detectives seized 20 starter plants, approximately 3 more pounds of marijuana butter and 7 pounds of processed marijuana bud.
