The driver of a car that plowed through a fence and clipped a corner of a house in the 22900 block of 32nd Avenue West in Brier sustained what was described as minor injuries Wednesday night; no other injuries were reported in the incident.
Snohomish County Fire District 1 crews responded to the accident around 9 p.m. Wednesday and found a vehicle sitting at the northwest corner of a house on 32nd Avenue West. The driver was transported to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
“The car went right though our front yard, missed both of our cars in the driveway, the three evergreens and the big stump, then hit the fence of our neighbors and the corner of their house,” said homeowner Kary Dokka. “The front of his car was pushed back to the dash, so if he hit the big evergreens in our yard the outcome may not have been good.”
Speculation at the scene of the incident was that the driver either fainted or fell asleep at the wheel of the vehicle he was driving.
While the accident did only minor damage to her front yard, Dokka said the incident was somewhat alarming. “It was probably the most awful sound you’d ever want to hear,” she said.
District 1 firefighters inspected the house hit in the incident and determined it was structurally sound and safe for occupancy.
