Device found at Lake Ballinger confirmed as pipe bomb

The device found at the Lake Ballinger boat launch at 7400 McAleer Way in Edmonds Friday night was confirmed to be a pipe bomb by the Washington State Patrol Interagency Bomb Squad on Saturday.

“It was a pipe bomb,” said Trooper Mark Francis. “The bomb squad has it secured and will be disposing of it.” Francis declined to explain what the pipe bomb was made from, calling the information “sensitive.”

The state patrol believes the devise may have been at the boat launch since July 4.

It is unknown if the State Patrol or the Edmonds Police Department will open an investigation into the origin of the pipe bomb or who may be responsible for it.
