Deadliest Catch Captains reportedly quitting show

Three of the star captains from the Discovery Channel’s hit show “The Deadliest Catch” may not be returning. Brothers Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand, captains of the Time Bandit, were recently sued by the Discovery Channel for $3 million for allegedly not performing work on a planned spinoff special.

The Hollywood Reported reports that Sig Hansen weighed in and said, “I want people to know the captains stand together, and me and my brothers support them 100 percent.”

Captains Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand as well as Sig Hansen have released this joint statement to the Hollywood Reporter.

We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in ‘Deadliest Catch. It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive ‘Catch’ fans we have met over the years.

Sig Hansen’s brother and fellow Northwestern crew member, Edgar, is a Mountlake Terrace resident and was recently the Grand Marshall of the Tour de Terrace parade. Another Northwestern crew member, Matt Bradley, is also a Mountlake Terrace resident.

The Discovery Channel has not issued a statement at this time.
