Crime rates in Mountlake Terrace have declined over the past couple of years and they continue to do so in 2009. 2008 showed a 16% decrease in crime compared to 2007 and the first quarter of 2009 was down 24%. The city has just released that 2009 through May has been down 36% from the same period in 2008.
- Crimes against persons: down 27%
- Property crimes: down 39%
- Domestic violence crimes responded to: down 70%
- Domestic violence assults: down 56%
- Felony arrests: down 35%
- Drug arrests: down 24%
- DUI arrests: down 32%
- Adult bookings to jail: down 50%
- Juvenile bookings to jail: down 94%
The only statistic that the City reported as being up is misdemeanor arrests which is up by 19%.
