Construction to begin this month on new Premera pedestrian bridge

Construction is set to begin this month on a new pedestrian bridge that will span Halls Creek and 216th Street Southwest at 68th Avenue West, connecting the Premera campus with an employee parking lot on the north-side of 216th Street SW.

“We are trying to provide our employees quick access to our campus from the north lot,” said Amy Carter, Premera’s senior communications manager.

The 50-foot-long, 5-foot wide prefabricated bridge will start going up in late August after sensitive prep work is completed around the site. Early construction includes providing protection for Halls Creek, removal of invasive species of vegetation around the site, and adding some 50 cubic yards of fill above the creek’s floodplain.

The project is expected to be finished in September.
