My family does a lot of walking around our neighborhood so it’s nice that this stretch of 52nd Ave. W. will be improved for people driving, riding bikes as well as walking. Construction starts this week on the 52nd Ave. W. reconstruction project.
The preconstruction meeting for this project took place Thursday, July 9. Just as the 52nd/53rd water main project is being completed, this project will be starting. The 52nd Avenue West Reconstruction Project (212th to 220th Streets) includes milling the surface of the existing street, replacing failed pavement, and paving a new asphalt concrete overlay. Additional work involves installing new sidewalk ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act design requirements, replacing broken curbs and sidewalks, repairing and replacing portions of the storm and sanitary sewers, and establishing bike lanes when new traffic control signs and pavement markings are installed.
