Community meeting to discuss Firefighters Memorial Park Sept. 27

Members of the Mountlake Terrace Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission and Neighborhood Park Improvement Subcommittee are hosting a community meeting to discuss park improvements and possible amenities for Firefighters Memorial Park. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Jungle Room of the Recreation Pavilion, 5303-228th St. S.W.

Firefighters Memorial Park, 3900-228th St. S.W., is located behind the former site of Fire District 1 Station 18. Following the demolition of the station, the park area was expanded, its parking lot reconfigured and a new fence installed along the frontage of the property. The park is scheduled to reopen in October.

Future plans for Firefighters Memorial Park include relocating the playground equipment to the front of the park, establishing new pathways and installing a new flagpole near the memorial area.
