Help for those who were affected by the April 16 two-alarm fire at the Taluswood Apartments at 236th Street Southwest and 44th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace began even before the flames were totally doused, and those efforts have continued almost two weeks after the fire.
On Friday, Red Onion Burgers announced it had raised $1,500 for the families though donations, a raffle and an April 25 fundraiser at the restaurant.
Community Northwest, an assistance group run by Taluswood’s parent company, has been assisting affected families on site since the fire and handed out free breakfasts for all residents of the complex this past Thursday.
The Red Cross and Support 7, the Fire District 1 volunteer group, were on site within minutes of the first call to emergency services.
