Community comes out to ‘Celebrate Schools!’, support Foundation for Edmonds School District

Students, parents, teachers, employees and other supporters of the Edmonds School District turned out in large numbers Saturday morning for the sixth annual Celebrate Schools! 5k Run/Walk at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood.
The day started off with a Children’s Fun Run, which was won by Will Konings, 7, of Hilltop Elementary School. The overall winner of the 5k Run was Chris Kratz, a 2007 graduate of Meadowdale High School. Kratz clocked in with a time of 19 minutes, 16 seconds. The top female finisher was Edlawte Sentayehu, a student at College Place Middle School, whose time was 21:27.
The school with the most participants was Lynndale Elementary with 162 runners/walkers. Principal Chris Fulford ran the race in a Lions’ costume. Edmonds-Woodway won the Battle of the Bands (drum corps).
