Clothes For Kids seeking volunteers

clothes-for-kidsClothes For Kids, which will open for its 31st year of serving students on Aug. 20, is looking for friendly, hard-working volunteers to staff the client and donation areas.

Volunteers receive donations, sort and clean clothing, restock inventory, and assist clients. Typically volunteers commit to one day per week for the duration of the school year, with training provided.

– Day and night shifts available. Weekly volunteer shifts are:  Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 8:30 am – 1 p.m. and Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:30 pm – 8 p.m.

– Teens welcome.  Volunteers ages 16-18 can volunteer with parent permission, and volunteers ages 14-15 can volunteer with a parent on-site.

“Volunteers are essential to our success,” says Nancy Laird-Burris, Clothes For Kids Program Manager.  “We operate on a shoestring budget and are completely funded through private contributions. The more than 50 volunteers that commit to a regular shift allow us to provide school wardrobes to over 3,000 students annually.”

Clothes For Kids has been serving Snohomish County since 1984 as a non-profit organization providing clothing for low-income children and families.  Thanks to generous contributions from the community, the program has served more than 15,000 students in the past five years.
