Clothes for Kids receives generous donations for cold weather

Clothes For Kids, which provides wardrobes for low-income Edmonds School District students, received 1,539 coats, gloves and hats from the recent Warm 106.9 Clothing Drive.

Special thanks goes to Warm 106.9 radio and the KIRO 7 Family Connection partners: Brotherton Cadillac and Olympic Physical Therapy. Coat drive partners include Warm’s sponsors: Applebees, Geico, Sterling Savings Bank and Hansen Bros. Moving & Storage.

Clothes for Kids has been serving Snohomish County since 1984, as a non-profit organization providing clothing for low-income families. So far this year, Clothes for Kids has served over 2,595 children. Last year, the organization served more than 5,200 children. “Warm coats are an important part of the back-to-school wardrobe that we provide for students in preschool through 12th grade throughout Snohomish County” said Nancy Laird-Burris, program manager for Clothes For Kids.

Clothes For Kids receives approximately $400,000 in new in-kind donations each year, including the Warm 106.9 coats drive. These donations enable the organization to meet the basic needs of Edmonds-area students and provide wardrobes that include warm coats, new shoes, socks and underwear.

On March 1, Clothes For Kids opened for spring and summer shopping. Donations are accepted throughout the year. Visit www.clothesforkids.org for more information.
