Clothes For Kids raises over $17,000 at luncheon/auction

Volunteers and supporters of Clothes For Kids raised more than $17,000 to benefit the school wardrobe program at the Celebrate the Children Luncheon & Auction May 2 at Westgate Chapel.

“Approximately 25 percent of our funding comes from special events,” said Joy Ingram, Clothes For Kids Development Director. “This is the fourth year that our volunteers – who already dedicate much of their time to the program – helped to host this auction.”

More than 160 people attended the event. This year Clothes For Kids provided school wardrobes to more than 3,170 students throughout Snohomish County.

“The $4,000 raised during the Fund-A-Need portion of the auction will go a long way to help us stock socks and underwear for fall,” said Nancy Laird Burris, Clothes For Kids Program Manager.

Thanks to sponsors Charlie’s Produce and Fred Meyer, much of the expenses of the event were underwritten – allowing more of the funds raised to directly benefit Clothes For Kids.

Clothes For Kids completed clothing distribution for the 2014-15 school year at the end of March and will reopen in late August for Back to School. Donations of gently-used clothing and cash support are gratefully accepted year round.
