Clothes For Kids is holding its 7th annual Transforming Lives Breakfast Thursday, Oct. 20, from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Lynnwood Convention Center.
Reserve your seat at the event by going to www.clothesforkids.org or by calling 425-741-6500. During the breakfast, Clothes For Kids will be recognizing its community partner, the My Neighborhood News Network, which includes MLTnews, My Edmonds News and Lynnwood Today.
Emcee for the event is RJ Coop. After growing up homeless and illiterate until age 9, RJ was adopted at the age of 13. Prior to being adopted he was in 25-plus foster care homes and attended numerous schools, uprooted every couple of months and put into a new environment. Once settled, RJ earned both athletic and academic scholarships for college, where he played football and track and graduated with honors.
While he fully anticipated being a teacher and football coach, he found himself at Microsoft, where he had a 10-year run in the HR/staffing field.
Thanks to sponsor underwriting of the breakfast, all donations support the mission of Clothes For Kids, which provides school clothing — including socks, underwear and shoes — to Snohomish County and Northshore School District students whose families qualify for free or reduced meals at school.
