A contract for the Northside Water Main Improvements in the amount of $1,429,686.03 was awarded to Ponderosa Pacific, Inc. by the City Council at its Dec. 1 meeting.

Construction is anticipated to begin by early January, with completion of the entire water main project in early summer.

The improvements include construction of approximately 6,500 linear feet (1.2 miles) of 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch diameter class 52 ductile iron pipe, 70 gate valves, 13 fire hydrants, 66 water services, and a combination air release/air vacuum valve assembly. The work includes minor restoration of concrete traffic curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, asphalt pavement and landscaping, traffic and erosion control, and other miscellaneous work.

This project’s primary goal is to improve system reliability and increase flow capacity to meet modern fire fighting flow requirements. The water system improvements are in accordance with the City’s Comprehensive Water System Plan.
