The ballfield lights at Evergreen Playfield’s field No. 5 are expected to be in operating condition for the start of baseball and softball games later this month after they were recently found to be vandalized sometime over the winter. The city is making necessary repairs to the light poles, while police are investigating the incident.

City park crews discovered that three of the four light poles around the field were without power when they attempted to energize the system. Electrical lines had been cut in an apparent attempt by thieves to remove copper wiring, City Manager John Caulfield said on Friday.

Mountlake Terrace Recreation and Parks Department adult softball leagues will begin using field 5 on Sunday, March 24. Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association (MTYAA) baseball games are also scheduled to take place on the field later this spring.
