The city is recruiting individual residents to serve on its five Boards and Commissions that deal with specific focuses as the arts, recreation and parks, community policing, city planning, and the library. Board members hear reports from city and community officials, organize events, inform and advise the City Council, and get involved in the community.
City officials are looking for individuals who live within the Mountlake Terrace city limits and willing to serve as, in most cases, board and commission members do not need specialized training or experience. They need dedication to attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings and a willingness to work in a team environment.
The City of Mountlake Terrace has six citizen Boards and Commissions: the Arts Advisory Commission, the Recreation & Parks Advisory Commission, the Neighborhood Parks Subcommittee, the Community Policing Advisory Board, the Planning Commission and the Library Board. Members serve three-year terms, except those on the Planning Commission who serve four-year terms.
Applications to be considered for a board or commission are due May 23, 2014. You can view an application here.
