The Mountlake Terrace Police Department is accepting registrations for a free seminar that teaches the best practices for protecting yourself and your family. The seminar, “Personal Defense and Discussing Personal Safety Tips,” is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at the Mountlake Terrace Library, from 6-9 p.m.
The course offers knowledge, resources and training in personal safety, firearms and other defense options. Topics include a pyramid of personal awareness, pre-incident indicators, do’s and don’ts on confronting criminals, deadly force encounters, shoot or don’t shoot decisions, family emergency planning and firearms options, and personal defense equipment. Sg. Pat Lowe, a 17-year law enforcement officer and certified firearms instructor with the City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department, will teach the seminar.
Seating for the three-hour class is limited. Preregistering is advised; more than 100 attended when the seminar was last offered over two sessions in December. Reserve your spot by contacting Officer Kim Berg at kberg@ci.mlt.wa.us or 425-670-8260.
