City of MLT looking for volunteers to help count bicyclists, pedestrians

The City of Mountlake Terrace is looking for volunteers to help count bicyclists and pedestrians in key areas around town as part of the Washington State Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project.  The counts are scheduled to be conducted during the morning and evening commutes Sept. 25-27, and will be coordinated through the Cascade Bicycle Club and the Washington State Department of Transportation.

While automobile traffic and transit ridership are counted frequently, bicyclists and pedestrians are not. This project will provide data on bicyclist and pedestrian counts to city, regional and state agencies for planning of future foot-powered transportation in the area.

In Mountlake Terrace, the project will conduct counts along the Interurban Trail, at the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center and near Mountlake Terrace Elementary School.

This is the third year Mountlake Terrace has been included in the Documentation Project
