City of MLT Christmas Tree Lighting is December 3

The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is Friday, December 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave W and features caroling, refreshments and a visit from Santa along with a spectacular tree lighting.

Visible for miles around, the enormous “tree” is actually a frame constructed of over 1800 lights and placed on top of the city’s water tower. The LED lights use only 25% of the power as the old lights while containing twice as many lights.

Presented by the Nile Shrine Center Shurtah Unit, the Tree Lighting Ceremony gets the whole family into the holiday spirit. Volunteers serve cookies, along with hot coffee and cocoa. Santa makes a grand entrance on a Fire Truck. The Terrace Park School Choir will sing Christmas carols.

Guests are encouraged to bring canned food donations for the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank. Cash donations are being accepted for the Michelle Ringler Recreation Scholarship Fund. Since 2002, the Fund, supported by private donations, helped over 400 children register for recreation programs at the Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion.

Guests should dress warm and wear boots if the weather is wet. The event is free.
