The City of Mountlake Terrace was named as a 2014 Playful City USA honoree for the first time by KaBOOM! earlier this week.
The KaBOOM! Playful City USA program, sponsored by the Humana Foundation, honors cities and towns across America that are taking bold steps to ensure that all children have easy access to balanced and active play in their communities.
“It’s a great honor for the City of Mountlake Terrace to receive this designation,” stated Recreation Manager Jeff Betz. “To be one of four cities in the state to be honored is a tribute to all of the hard work the City Council, staff and citizens have taken to make our city a playful, wonderful place to live.”
A total of 212 cities and towns across the United States received the designation of Playful City USA.
Founded in 1996, KaBOOM! is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the goal of ensuring that all children get the active play they need to become healthy and successful adults. The Humana Foundation was established in 1981 as the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc., a leading health care company.
