Two local boys scouts were honored by the City of Mountlake Terrace Monday night for enhancements they made to Firefighters’ Memorial Park earlier this year. The scouts received recognition and Certificates of Appreciation at the Mountlake Terrace City Council meeting at Interim City Hall.
Ray Baldwin received recognition for the creation and installation of a new monument at the one-acre park, while Erik Greif was honored for the installation of new plantings and a new gravel pathway throughout the grounds. Both used their efforts as part of their candidacy for becoming Eagle Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America organization.
Ken Courtmauch, the Mountlake Terrace Parks and Facilities Superintendent, noted that the work of Baldwin and Greif has greatly benefited the park grounds. Firefighters Memorial Park has been the beneficiary of projects by seven different Eagle Scout candidates since the 2012 razing of a Fire District 1 station that use to take up half of the grounds there.
