City Council schedules special work sessions on Oct. 1 and 2

City-of-MLT-logoThe Mountlake Terrace City Council will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1 for a special work session.

The Council will be discussing the proposed Town Center Subarea Plan Map Amendment Ordinance. The changes proposed are related to building designations (land use and zoning map) at the intersection of 236th Street SW and 56th Avenue W.

The amendment would change the designations of parcels at the intersection from Subdistricts C, D and E (which allow two- and three-story buildings) to Subdistrict B, Medium Mixed Use (5) District (which allows five-story buildings).

City staff said that the goal is to allow all quadrants of the intersection to have equal development opportunities and to facilitate redevelopment of what the City deems to be a key intersection.

The Planning Commission also will be having a meeting at the same time as a quorum of members is expected to attend and discuss the Town Center Subarea Plan Map Amendment Ordinance.

The City Council also has scheduled a special work session from 6-8 p.m, Thursuday, Oct. 2 in the Great Room at Arbor Village, 23601 56th Ave. W. The purpose of the meeting is a reception for members of the City’s Federal and State Delegation to show the City’s appreciate for their support of the Mountlake Terrace Main Street Project.
