I was listening to the city council work session tonight and, as we mentioned before, there was a 6-month update on the dog park. All the council members were very supportive over the water meter project and and also very surprised to hear that MLT DOG has already raised over $2,000 of the $4,000 needed to purchase and install the meter.
Council member John Zambrano committed to personally donating $100 towards the project and encouraged the other council members to do so also. Now, I know that Zambrano is up for election in November in a strange move where he is trying to take Jerry Smith’s position when he (Zambrano) still has two years left in his term. Donating to a popular community project like the dog park can’t hurt his chances. After he encouraged the other members to give also, Mayor Jerry Smith committed to donating his time to helping dig the trench needed to get water from the meter (outside the dog park) to the location of a spicket inside the park.
Thanks to our city council members for supporting community projects like the dog park and personally contributing as well.
