City Council Candidate Highlight: Kim Michel, Position 7

Today we are highlighting Kim Michel, who is running for City Council Position 7 against Seuan Richards and incumbent John Zambrano.

Here is what Kim wants you to know about her:

Kim Michel has over 15 years of experience as a Human Resources professional, Michel is skilled at handling difficult conversations, balancing the interest of the employee versus the organization’s best interests. This experience will be beneficial when serving on the Council as they move forward with tough and sensitive decisions regarding issues such as the Marijuana dispensaries and downtown project.

Michel is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and currently serving on the Mountlake Terrace Police Advisory Board as Co-Chair. Michel has her Bachelor’s degree from Towson University in Business Management and is a Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification. Michel has been participating in the current Citizen’s Academy to learn more about the department for which she is a liaison to the community. Michel looks forward this year to help with the National Night Out to allow for the residents in Mountlake Terrace to learn more about safety and partnering with the police department for a safer neighborhood.

Michel moved from the East Coast to Seattle which provides for a different perspective. In September of 2006 Michel made Mountlake Terrace her new home.

As a Training and Development Manager, Michel believes creating awareness through education is an essential element to creating a safe and fun community. Mountlake Terrace provides Michel convenience to Seattle or Everett, that “small town” feel and the opportunity for growth with the plans of the new downtown. Michel wants to be involved in the community in which she lives.

Michel has been on the Lake Washington Human Resources Association Board and on her Homeowners Association Board!
