The Mountlake Terrace City Council unanimously approved a resolution that gave its approval for the Housing Authority of Snohomish County (HASCO) to purchase, remodel, and upgrade the Tall Firs Apartments, located at 23000 55th Ave. W., during Tuesday’s Council meeting.
In order to allow the purchase to move forward, the City Council passed the resolution declaring that there is a need for HASCO to operate within the city boundaries. The city has previously passed resolutions approving other property acquisitions by HASCO. Councilmember Seaun Richards was excused from Tuesday’s meeting.
Tall Firs Apartments serves low-income senior citizens. The current owner of Tall Firs, Senior Services of Snohomish County, has decided to sell off its senior housing portfolio. Snohomish County, which has a major financial interest in Tall Firs, supports HASCO assuming the’ ownership and operation of Tall Firs.
HASCO would continue to contract with Senior Services of Snohomish County to provide supportive services to the residents.
