The Mountlake Terrace City Council voted 6-0 Tuesday night to move ahead with an employment agreement to pay new City Manager Arlene Fisher $135,000 in salary plus additional compensation; a contract is expected to be signed in time for Fisher to assume the top administrative post of city government in early March.
Fisher was selected by the City Council on Jan. 25 to become Mountlake Terrace’s next City Manager, a position vacated by John Caulfield last September. The compensation package the City will be offering to Fisher includes a salary of $135,000, medical insurance similar to what is offered to city department directors, a $6,000 vehicle allowance, $4,000 to assist in moving costs, five days of vacation days and accruing 15 days per year, plus addition compensation in public employee retirement and trust funds.
“The salary and deferred compensation being offered to Arlene Fisher are on par with the salary and deferred compensation of former City Manager John Caulfield was making in 2011,” said a city memorandum.
Interim City Manager Scott Hugill said that Fisher is tentatively scheduled to begin the first week in March and is expected to attend a Coffee with the City public forum on March 12. “This will be a good opportunity for the community to come out and meet the new city manager,” Hugill added.
