Choir of the Sound finished its 2015-16 season with the rock and roll show “We (Love) Rock-n-Roll” at Shorecrest Performing Arts Center on June 4-5. The show featured songs from the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, U2, Queen and many more.
In addition, during the spring show, Choir of the Sound gives out two scholarships to local high school students for whom music has played an integral part in their lives. This year’s recipients were both from Meadowdale High School in the Edmonds School District. Madison Hansen has performed in the Meadowdale Choir and Advanced Women’s Ensemble. She is also active in the musical theatre program, Seattle Children’s Choir and Solo Ensemble. Hansen will head to Loyola Marymount University in the fall to study theater and communications.
The other recipient is Julia Norton. She has performed in the Meadowdale Choir, Impressions vocal jazz, Seattle Children’s Chorus, Solo Ensemble and Edmonds School District Honor Choir. Norton will be heading to the University of Portland in the fall to study psychology.
Next season, Choir of the Sound will be celebrating its 40th year with Holiday Memories, Mozart’s Requiem, and a Salute to the Tony Awards.
