Cheerleading: Hawks place third in Non-tumbling Medium

The Mountlake Terrace Hawks cheer squad placed third in the 2A/3A/4A Non-Tumbling Medium division of the 2016 WIAA State Cheerleading Championships Saturday in Seattle.

The Meadowdale Mavericks cheer squad won their fifth state cheerleading championship over the past eleven years Saturday, earning the top spot in the 2A/3A/4A Non-Tumbling Large division at the 2016 WIAA State Cheerleading Championships held in Seattle.

The Mountlake Terrace Hawks grabbed third place in the 2A/3A/4A Non-tumbling Medium division Saturday, while the Lynnwood Royals walked away with sixth place in the 2B/1A/2A/3A/4A Non-Tumbling Small classification.

Meadowdale scored 72.25 points from the judges for their performance at the state championships, easily out-distancing division competitors Auburn, Black Hills and South Kitsap.

The state cheer championships were conducted in the Alaska Airlines Arena on the campus of the University of Washington.
