The Edmonds Police Department is encouraging customers of Edmonds Pharmacy, 7631 212th St. S.W., to double check their prescriptions after one of their pharmacists was found under the influence Wednesday evening.
Police have advised Edmonds Pharmacy to contact their customers directly, and if there is any concern that customers received the wrong substance they should contact the pharmacy immediately, said Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Josh McClure. At this point, Edmonds police are not aware of any prescriptions that were filled in error, he said.
Officers responded to a welfare check at the business around 7 p.m. Wednesday after a customer called 911 to express concern for the pharmacist’s welfare. Officers and an EMS crew from Fire District 1 contacted the pharmacist outside the pharmacy at his vehicle. A subsequent investigation developed probable cause to arrest the 47-year-old male for a felony drug possession. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
“There were several types [of prescription drugs] in his possession,” McClure said. “It is unknown specifically what he was under the influence of.”
Edmonds police have consulted with the State Department of Health investigations Division, and the health department will be following up with the information from the police investigation, McClure said.
