Cedar Park girls eliminated from district basketball tourney

The Lummi Nation Blackhawks used a big third quarter and a hot-shooting Dawn James to knock the Cedar Park Christian – MLT girls out of the 1B Northwest District basketball tournament Tuesday night, 50-45, at Cedar Park Christian School.

James, a junior guard averaging 12 points per game for the Blackhawks, scored 22 in the loser-out game. Down by four points at halftime, Lummi outscored the Lions 22-12 in the decisive third quarter.

Three Lions scored in double figures in the losing effort:  Sarah Dresler with 15 points, Leanna Mapel with 14 points and Brianna Joki with 12 points.

Cedar Park Christian – MLT finishes the season with a 4-16 record; Lummi improve to 2-16 and will take on Lopez Thursday afternoon at Mount Vernon Christian School in another loser-out match-up.
