Fundraising efforts by Cedar Park Christian School — Mountlake Terrace this month have resulted in a check of more than $8,000 being presented to LaRae deQuilette, widow of Ron deQuilette, who was killed in the March 22 mudslide in Oso.
The private school held a spaghetti dinner and accepted donations in order to raise money for the former bus driver and supporter of the school. “This amount that was raised was beyond our expectations and we were thrilled to present LaRae with this financial contribution to help provide for the family during this time of need,” said Jody Speck, Administrative Assistant at CPCS-MLT.
“We want to thank those who came to the dinner from the former Mountlake Christian School, Snohomish County Christian School, North Sound Christian School, and Cedar Park Christian School, well as family, friends and the community who came out and generously gave to the deQuilette’s family,” Speck added.
In addition to financial gifts from numerous individuals and families, CPCS-MLT received assistance from a number of local businesses for the April 12 spaghetti dinner, including Roger’s Market, Double DD Meats, Village Market Thriftway and Cash and Carry.
As sad as the Oso event was, it’s great when we bond together to help those who remain.
