Three Cedar Park Christian — Mountlake Terrace High School juniors brought home strong finishes from state championships appearances this past week, led by Brenden Mills’ runner-up spot in the 1B boys discus.
Mills’ effort of 127-11 was good enough for second place in the event at the the WIAA 1B, 2B, 1A Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The 1B boys discus was won by Joseph Winn of Taholah with a toss of 141-10.
In 1B girls competition, Lion Sam Salmi grabbed sixth place in the high jump with a leap of 4-8. Waterville’s Elaina Thomsen won the 1B girls high jump title with a leap of 5-0.
Ben Reidy of CPC-MLT tied for ninth at the WIAA 1B/2B Boys State Golf Championships at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood (Pierce County) earlier in the week. Reidy’s two-day score for the par 72 layout was 170; the event was won my Ryan Baumgart of DeSales with a 143.
Earlier in the season Reidy had won the Northwest 1A/2A/1B League Championships held at Gallery Golf Club in Oak Harbor.
