CarMax has plans for former Detroit Autoworks lot on Highway 99

The now vacant former Detroit Autoworks lot has been purchased by CarMax.

The lot that was formerly home to Detroit Auto Works has been purchased by CarMax, a national used car chain.

The building that was on the lot, located at 21301 Highway 99 in Lynnwood, was demolished last month.

IMG_0008In a email, CarMax Public Affairs representative Casey Werderman wrote that “we have purchased property in Lynnwood and have identified it as an area that fits into our current growth plan. While this store is not currentlly on our announced store openings, we do have our first store in Washington State scheduled to open in Spokane later this month. We look forward to providing customers in Washington State with the unique CarMax experience.”

CarMax is the nation’s largest used car retailer with 128 locations as of January 2014. Cars have a no-haggle price and include a five-day money back guarantee.

The company was named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune magazine for the 10th straight year in 2014.

The now-demolished building used to be a Safeway store but also served as a Gold’s Gym.
