What event is so colossal, so monumental, so exceptional and unforgettable that you would leave the city limits of Mountlake Terrace to attend?
Stumped? Of course we’re referring to the 20th Annual Seattle Invitational “Search for Amateur Elvis!” to be held at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23 at the Crocodile Café, 2200 2nd Ave in Seattle.
This beloved salute to “The King” returns and will once again beckon impersonators from near and far (and maybe even from Mountlake Terrace!) to represent just what Elvis really means to them.
Until an Elvis in Mountlake Terrace contest comes to our hometown there is only one place in the Northwest where each year you can see 30 different Elvii in full hip gyrating, fried Chicken-eating, swooning action.
Lucky attendees will see each amateur performer tackle one of “The King’s” many personas: the innocent and magnetic country boy, the hip-swinging rockabilly superstar, The G.I. Guy, Hollywood playboy, the devout gospel singer, or the diamond-studded, gold-sun glassed Vegas crooner.
Each impersonator will get one chance to shake up the crowd — one single shot to perform a song from the Elvis playlist, in costume, backed by the fabulous Kentucky Rain band.
But before the Elvii line up to take the stage, attendees will be treated to music from the band, “Graceland Five” playing supercharged punk rock versions of The King’s music. You just might even see someone looking amazingly like his wife Priscilla, manager Colonel Tom Parker, and best friend Red West in the crowd, or on stage.
Performers — Sign Up Here!
Currently SeattleInvitational.com is looking for amateur performers/contestants to sign up and agree to perform one song in their own costume.
Interested parties should read through contest rules, the song list, and judging criteria. Are you a budding Elvis Tribute Artist?
