A house fire in the 21200 block of Poplar Way in Brier caused more than $50,000 of damage and displaced a family of four on Monday, Aug. 27. No one was inside the house at the time of the fire.
“The north end of the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived,” reported Fire District 1 Public Information Officer Leslie Hynes.
More than 20 firefighters from Fire District 1 and Lynnwood responded and had the fire under control in about 20 minutes. No one was injured.
The fire occurred just a couple blocks away from Fire Station 18. “Firefighters first heard about the fire from someone who stopped by the station,” Hynes said. “Before the crew could even get the engine out the door, several more people had come to the station to tell them about the fire.”
Most of the damage to the home was to two bedrooms and the attic space. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
