In a game very reminiscent of one they played just the night before, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks fought back from a halftime deficit to pull away by the final buzzer and earn a 72-53 victory over the Snohomish Panthers in the final game of the Mountlake Terrace Holiday Tournament on Saturday.
Trailing 32-28 at the half, the Hawks outscored Snohomish 43-21 in the second half to push their overall season record to 6-1.
Snohomish put together a big second quarter, starting with an 11-1 run early in the period, to take the halftime lead; meanwhile, the Hawks went cold from the field, shooting just 25% from the field, 3-12, in the quarter.
The Hawks’ second half assault was led by co-captain Greg Bowman, who scored 16 of his 20 points after halftime. Other Hawks’ scoring in double-figures for the game were Matthew Moisant with 12, Isaiah Green with 11 and Gabe Altenberger with 10. The Rebels were led by senior forward Tanner Arrington with 18 points and junior postman Colin Kane with 17 points.
Terrace also needed a come-from-behind effort on Friday to defeat Foster 65-56 in its first game of the two-day tournament at Mountlake Terrace High School.
