The Mountlake Terrace High School boys basketball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday as the Hawks flew past the Everett Seagulls 61-52 in a game played at Everett Community College.
The match-up featured the two teams’ top scorers lighting up the scoreboard. Everett’s Jace Chacon, who averages more than 16 points per game, put up 25 against the Hawks. But Terrace’s Greg Bowman, averaging more than 20 points per game, poured in 29 to lead the team to victory.
The Hawks broke open a close game, tied 26-26 at the half, with a big third quarter. The team scored another 26 points in just those eight minutes, then coasted to the win.
The win ends a short two-game losing streak for Terrace and keeps them in a first place tie in the Wesco 3A South Conference with Glacier Peak, as both teams now sport a 6-2 league mark.
