Arts of the Terrrace Art Show October 2-3

The 32nd Annual Arts of the Terrace Art Show is coming up the weekend of October 1-3. In addition to the regular art show, this year they have added free artist demonstrations and workshops. Sponsored by the City of Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission and the Friends of the Arts, Arts of the Terrace is one of the major juried art shows held in the Pacific Northwest and attracts top artists from throughout the region. The show is free and open to the public Saturday, October 2 form 10 AM to 9 PM Sunday, October 3 from 11 AM to 5 PM.

The art show kicks off Friday night, October 1st, with an Artist Reception and Patron Preview Party with Artists Awards at 7:30 p.m. by invitation only.

On Saturday, October 2, Knight Visions Studio Gallery will give a framing demonstration at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., see Hal Sutherland, Disney studio artist and director of Filmation Studios and Emmy Award winner for the animated Star Trek. Bonnie Hodges will demonstrate her oil painting techniques at 1 p.m. This year?s painting juror and graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School, Andrew Morrison, will demonstrate in various genres and discuss how to apply to art colleges and submit work to art galleries from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m., Donna Jean Perry will demonstrate her collage and mixed media techniques followed by Clifford Burkey with a watercolor demonstration at 1 p.m.

Jurors include Andrew Morrison for Paintings, Prints, Drawings and Miniatures, Alan Caddey for photography, and Paul Lewing for 3- Dimensional works.

This year 114 artists submitted over 277 entries to compete for more than $3,000 in cash awards and art merchandise.

The extended hours on Oct 2 from 6-9 PM will feature a wine tasting event for a $10.00 participation fee to benefit Friends of the Arts, a silent auction to benefit the Manu Sood art scholarship for a graduating senior from Mountlake Terrace High School (Class 2011), and a jazz combo from Mountlake Terrace High School.
