Animal Care Center Closing, Vet Opening Low-Cost Clinic

Last week the Animal Care Center in Mountlake Terrace closed up shop. Tracy Tomlinson, the owner and veterinarian, says that the down economy has made it more and more difficult for pet owners to afford even basic services (spay/neuter, vaccinations) for their pets. For this reason, Tomlinson decided to close the full-service Animal Care Center and open up a low-cost clinic that provides the basic services that all pets need such as vaccinations and getting spayed/neutered.

In a letter to the Animal Care Center “family”, Tomlinson says:

It has been a long process of research and soul searching to come to this decision. I will miss doing full service general practice but I’m quite passionate about what I’ll be able to do for pets and people in the community in my new venture.

It is my goal to achieve something quite unique in this area by providing low cost services while still maintaining very high quality medical standards. I’ll be able to do this by moving to a location with very low overhead, and seeing a large number of patients every day.

Tomlinson suggested that Animal Care Center clients find another full service veterinarian but are also welcome to come to the new clinic for these basic services.

If you are a current Animal Care Center client and need files transferred to a new vet, email mail@animalcarecenter.org with client name, animals’ names, and the name and fax number of the receiving hospital. The new clinic, Lynnwood Spay Neuter Clinic, will be located in Lynnwood at 16418 7th PL W.

I know that many people (including myself) in Mountlake Terrace brought their pets to Animal Care Center and will now be looking for a new vet. If you have any veterinarian recommendations, leave them in the comments.

  1. We take our pets to Edmonds Westgate Veterinary Hospital on Edmonds Way in Edmonds. I’ve bee going there for 12 years and have not one complaint about their service or facility. Fast & friendly and the best thing about this vet is their follow up on even the simplest procedures to make sure my “kids” are ok. Calling after vaccinations to make sure there were no bad reactions!

  2. My cats don’t do well outside the house. We found a great vet that comes to us (they also have a clinic): At Home Vet website: https://www.yourathomevet.com/html/home.html nAddress is 12459 NE Woodinville Drive Woodinville, WA 98072.nnMonday: 9:00am u2013 7:00pm, Tuesday: 9:00am u2013 7:00pm, Wednesday: 9:00am u2013 8:00pm, Thursday: 7:30am u2013 7:00pm, Friday: 9:00am u2013 5:00pm, Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm (One Saturday per month), Sunday: 10:00am-4:00pm (Emergencies Only)

  5. A Pet Care Clinic at 23502 56th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace (425-775-0121) has always taken very good care of our cats. They are an excellent clinic and take care of all kinds of animals, birds, etc. A good local place to have your animals cared for. Very caring and Dr. Cannon is a great vet.
