Here is news from the City that a new art exhibit at the library opens today:
The Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission presents the Alexandra Knight Exhibit at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Avenue West. Inspired by her peers and instructors, Knight focuses her studio work on photography while still completing paintings featuring stylized forms and simplified color schemes of black and white.
A Seattle-area native with a life-long love for drawing and painting, Knight enrolled at the University of Washington as a business major. However, she soon decided to pursue her love for the arts with an Interdisciplinary Arts degree, which focused on painting, drawing, form and composition. In 2008, Knight studied in Italy with the University of Washington’s Studio Arts Program in Rome. She is currently working on a Certificate in Photography to increase her technical knowledge and learn to work with film and the darkroom.
Knight will be published in Photographer’s Forum Magazine’s “Best of 2009” Photography Annual this winter, and will be participating in the Third Thursday Edmonds Art Walk for the fourth time in December. She has participated in many local art shows, including the Shoreline Arts Festival and the Mountlake Terrace Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show. Visit the artist’s website to view more work at www.alexandraknightart.com.
The show runs through December 31 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 to 5 p.m.
