Crews have completed sidewalk, curb and gutter construction on 54th Street Southwest between 234th and 236th Streets Southwest in Mountlake Terrace, finishing a project began in June.

The project was funded in part by a grant from the Snohomish County Community Development Block Grant.

While the sidewalk, curb and gutter project ends major construction on 54th Street Southwest, traffic in the area is expected to be slowed next week as 236th Street Southwest between 54th and 56th Street Southwest will be resurfaced through a chip seal process. The resurfacing is part of chip seal plans that also include work on Cedar Way from 232nd Street SW to the King-Snohomish County line at 244th Street Southwest. Chip sealing had been scheduled to begin this week but were delayed.

Drivers should expect lane closures and delays in work zones once chip sealing work begins on 236th Street Southwest and Cedar Way. Resurfacing work hours are 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; the work is dependent upon good weather.
